Animal Crossing: New Horizons Becomes Best Selling Game All Time in Japan

It was only a matter of time, but with the release of the latest Nintendo financials, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has hit an important milestone in Japan. The game has now sold 10.45 million units in the territory, propelling it over the previous record holder, Pokémon Red / Green / Blue. (10.23 million) 

The closest game that is currently on the market is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which is sitting at the number five spot with 6.81 million units sold. Realistically, Splatoon 3 is the most likely to come close to hitting the Animal Crossing numbers. The game is sitting at 7 million sold worldwide with over five million units of sales coming from Japan.
