Fans still looking to pick up a Nintendo Switch in Japan, particularly the Multi-Language version of the console, will have another chance soon. Starting in early July, Nintendo will open up their fifth lottery for all system SKUs via the My Nintendo Store online. The specific date will be announced at a later date. Winners will begin to receive their systems starting in September. This lottery is not for systems that are on hand, but are scheduled to be produced.
For a recap, the following conditions must be met in order to be eligible to win a Switch 2 from the My Nintendo Store in Japan.
- As of Friday, February 28, 2025, you must have played Nintendo Switch software for at least 50 hours (excluding demos and free software).
- You must have been a Nintendo Switch Online member for at least a year by the time of entering the lottery and still be an active member.
- If you are part of a Family Plan, only the purchaser of the plan is eligible.
- Only those whose country/region Nintendo Account is set to Japan may enter.
In addition to these, Nintendo is adding the following two new conditions:
- You have applied for but never won any of the lotteries for the Nintendo Switch 2 on the My Nintendo Store.
- Your Nintendo Account has not been linked to a Nintendo Switch 2.
The company also noted two more important points. Even if you use a Nintendo Account that does not meet the conditions listed above, you may still be able to apply but will not be eligible to win. In Addition, due to the changes in conditions for the upcoming lottery, fans will not be able to have their previous data and information automatically carried over and will have to re-apply.
Gamers looking to get a Multi-Language Nintendo Switch 2 in Japan can only get the system officially through the My Nintendo Store online. Unfortunately, that doesn’t appear to be changing any time soon. At least until after the systems from this lottery are delivered.
