San Diego Studios is continuing their trickle of news for next year’s iteration of its popular baseball franchise. While details are still forthcoming, the studio offered a few glimpses at gameplay, Road to the Show and Franchise.
Gameplay
This aspect of the game continues to be a focus for The Show and the studio is looking to make some changes for the 2026 iteration of the title. A few new examples being implemented are new catches on the run, more efficient cutoff throws, new animations and attributes for catchers, an updated reaction rating for fielders and a new suite of gameplay features. More will be announced in early 2026.
Franchise
The Franchise mode is also undergoing an overhaul. The front office will be revamped providing new trade options, better AI for setting lineups and more.
Road to the Show
Introduced in Road to the Show in The Show 25, college will play an even bigger role in player development in this mode. In addition to the eight colleges from last year, eleven more are being added to The Show 26. Confirmed new colleges right now are the University of North Carolina and Oregon State University.
San Diego studios has yet to announce what platforms The Show 26 will be available on, but it seems highly likely that the Nintendo Switch 2 will receive a native version of the game in 2026.
