Unreleased Kunio-kun & Kirby Titles, Joy Mech Fight, Joining NSO Lineup in West

The NES Online app in English speaking regions is getting a special treat with three former Japan exclusives hitting the service today. Joy Mech Fight, a Nintendo developed 1993 release and a previously unreleased Kunio-kun game have been added to the library of games. Joy Mech Fight has been on the Japanese Famicom Online Switch app since early 2019, however, this marks the first time the game has seen an official release in English speaking territories. Joy Mech Fight also saw releases on both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U Virtual Console in 2014 and 2012 respectively.

Similarly, Downtown Nekketsu March Super-Awesome Field Day is also seeing a release. This Kunio-kun beat ‘em up was originally released in October of 1990 and saw Virtual Console releases on the Wii (2007), Wii U (2013) and Nintendo 3DS (2013). It released on the Famicom Online app in August 2019.

Also releasing this week in the West on the service are Kirby’s Star Stacker and Quest for Camelot (Game Boy Color). Kirby's Star Stacker, known as Kirby no KiraKira Kids in Japan, was released on the Super Famicom's Nintendo Power distribution service in February of 1998 and later on a standard Super Famicom cart in 1999. The game is a remake of the Game Boy version. This NSO release is the first time it has seen a release outside of Japan. The Super Famicom version of KiraKira Kids also saw Virtual Console releases on the Wii (2010), Wii U (2013) and Nintendo 3DS (2016).
