Pigskin fans don’t have to wait long. EA Sports Madden NFL 27 will arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on Thursday, August 13 (Friday, August 14 at 3:00 a.m. for Japan). The cover athlete this year is none other than break out star from the Chicago Bears, Caleb Williams. You can see the official reveal trailer for the game, starring Vince Vaughn, below.
One other interesting tidbit of information about the Switch 2 (and PS5 Pro) version of the game has to do with performance. Per an EA blog post on the game:
New Graphic Settings Options
For Playstation 5 Pro and Nintendo Switch 2 players only, we have a treat for you. This year, we are providing a new performance modes for you with updated frame rates:
- Choosing the VISUAL PRO graphics option ensures the highest possible visual quality for your gameplay experience.
- Choosing the PERFORMANCE PRO graphics option ensures the highest possible framerate. For PS5 Pro Players, you can expect up to 100+ FPS while in-game. For NS2 players, you will be able to reach 60 FPS!
You can choose which experience you prefer from the “Pause Menu” and selecting the “Graphics” option.
Last year, Madden 26 on the Switch notably ran a bit choppy, especially during it’s first few weeks on the market. This improved over time, but the game never achieved a framerate of 60. For more on last year’s game, be sure to check out our review here or the video below.
