Just in time to ring in the new year and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 update, an Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition themed Tetris 99 Maximus Cup is coming later this week. The event kicks off Friday, January 9 and will run until Tuesday, January 13. You can see a screenshot and a video clip of the new theme below.
This marks the 51st overall event for Tetris 99 and the first of 2026. The last Maximus Cup took place in early December and featured Kirby Air Riders. You can read more about that here. The Switch 2 update to Animal Crossing hits next week on Thursday, January 15 worldwide.
