Those looking to see the backstory of Rosalina and Luma in a physical form, you are in luck. To coincide with the release of Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 on the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo has released Rosalina’s Storybook. Well, for now, in Japan. While this is the Japanese version, it will give you a good idea of what to expect when the English version releases in November. Let’s take a look at this cool collectible.
Background
For fans in Japan, Rosalina’s Storybook, or “Rozetta no Ehon (Rozetta’s Picture Book),” was made available day and date with the release of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 on the Switch on October 2, 2025. The book is set for a release in English speaking territories on November 25, 2025 for a suggested retail price of $24.99 USD while it’s similarly priced here in Japan at ¥2,750.
Of course, the main difference with this version and the version that you will be able to pick up in English speaking territories is…well, English. Publishing in Japan is being handled by a company called Shogakukan, a seasoned publishing company for over 100 years and who currently publish several Pokémon themed children’s books among many others (you can check out their company profile in English here). For the English version, publishing has been picked up by Dark Horse. While I can’t confirm that every single page will be the same, the early images of the English version does seem to indicate that there will be very few differences (outside of language) between the versions.
As for the content of the book itself, this hardbound book contains 112 pages with full color illustrations. The story here follows Rosalina as a young girl and her chance encounter with Luma and the adventures they have had together afterward. Just to note, it does not include any of the pages added to the picture book for the games’ update on the Switch.

Conclusion
I was honestly a little bit hesitant to even pick this up, but in the end I’m glad that I did. The quality of the book is really great. The illustrations are vivid, the hardbound cover is feels nice and it’s just cool having a physical collectible for the Galaxy series. I won’t go as far to say that this is something that all fans of the Galaxy games need, but if you have the extra cash to spare, this will be worth it for some of you out there.
But let’s go ahead and turn things over to you guys. Did you pick up Galaxy and Galaxy 2 on the Switch with this re-release? Are you thinking about picking up this book? Sound off in the comments down below. We’ve love to hear from you.
