NSO Game Boy Update Brings Four Titles May 23

For a second week in a row, Nintendo has updated their retro lineup of games. Starting today, Friday, May 23, four Game Boy titles have been added to the Game Boy app for Nintendo Switch Online members. The following games are available:
  • Kirby no Kira Kira Kids | Kirby’s Star Stacker)
  • Survival Kids: Kotō no Bōkensha | Survival Kids
  • Selection: Erabareshi Mono | The Sword of Hope
  • Nemesis II | Gradius: The Interstellar Assault
Today marks the first time since launch that some of these titles have been released. Survival Kids and Grades: The Interstellar Assault are examples of this, with a slight exception of being released on the Nintendo Power system back in 2001 in Japan. For The Sword of Hope, this marks the first re-release of this version of the game since its initial release in the West. For Japan, the game was released on the 3DS Virtual Console in December 2011.The SNES version of Kirby’s Star Stacker has been available on NSO since July 2022 in Japan and September 2023 in English speaking territories. The Game Boy version also saw life on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console back in 2012/2013 depending on your region. You can check out the Japanese and English language trailers for the games below.
The last update for the Game Boy library came in early March with the addition of Donkey Kong (94) and Mario Picross. For a full look at all of the Game Boy games on the service, including Japanese box art, be sure to check our list here.
