Next Mario Movie Titled Super Mario World

NBC Universal is inadvertently taking some wind out of the sales of the upcoming Mario Movie sequel. In a press release, the company added the title “Super Mario World” in their list of titles that will stream on Peacock after being released in theaters. The text reads as follows:

Blockbuster Hits Including Wicked: For Good, Jurassic World, and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 – Streaming Exclusively on Peacock Following Theatrical Release

An exciting range of films from Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation and Illumination were presented, including Megan 2.0, Nobody 2, Bad Guys 2, How to Train Your Dragon, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, Black Phone 2, HIM, The Phoenician Scheme, Super Mario World, Shrek, and Minions.

These films stream first exclusively on Peacock after their theatrical and PVOD windows, making it a uniquely positioned powerhouse for blockbuster success — driving viewership, premium advertising opportunities and cultural impact with must-watch entertainment experiences such as Wicked.
Unless this is a completely different project, Super Mario World will likely be the title of the next Super Mario Bros. Movie. The film is set to release in the United States and many other markets on April 3, 2026. Japan will see the release of the movie just ahead of the Golden Week holidays on April 24, 2026.

UPDATE
NBC Universal has updated the article and removed mention of Super Mario World as well as Shrek and Minions from the page.
