Switch Tops Wii in LTD, Dread Nears 3 Million & More in Latest Nintendo Financials

Nintendo shared their latest financial data today (February 3) and presented some staggering revelations. The data here is for the period between April 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021. During that time, 29 titles sold over one million units, 22 of which were first party titles. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl topped the list with 13.97 million units sold combined. Metroid Dread, the first new 2D Metroid title in nearly two decades, managed to sell through nearly 3 million  units worldwide. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe expanded its lead as the top selling title on the Switch selling through an additional 4.61 million units since the last financial report. This brings the total unit sales to 43.35 million sold worldwide.

In terms of hardware, the Nintendo Switch, set to hit its fifth year on the market, has outsold the Wii in life time to date sales, with 103.54 units sold lifetime versus the Wii’s 101.63. For Q1-Q3 2022, the Switch sold 18.95 million units, which is down from the same period in Fiscal Year 2021. You can find a breakdown of the specific hardware sales below.
