Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Tops a Classic & More in Latest Nintendo Financial Report

Nintendo shared the latest financial data today (Thursday, November 4) with investors and there were a few surprises mixed in with the numbers. The data here is for the period between April 1 and September 30, 2021. During that time, 18 titles sold over one million units on the Switch, 14 of which were Nintendo published titles. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe topped a pretty big milestone here, surpassing the sales of Mario Kart Wii (37.38 million units), making it one of the best selling Nintendo published games of all time.

*New Pokémon Snap is released and sold by The Pokémon Company in Japan, and by Nintendo outside of Japan. Sales of 2.19 million units all represent those outside of Japan.
Hardware sales were down slightly from the same period last year, with the Switch selling through 8.28 million units compared to 12.53 units. The break down here is 6.45 million original Switch models and 1.82 million units sold for the Switch Lite. Since its launch in March 2017, the Switch has sold through 93.89 million units. Nintendo’s hybrid device is closing in on the sales of the Wii, which stand at 101.63 million units sold worldwide.
