Similar to the other two console manufacturers, Nintendo is also feeling the heat when it comes to potential price hikes. Soon, that will be a reality. Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo’s online services will see price hikes across the board worldwide. Here’s how it breaks down for video game systems:
Japan
Nintendo Switch 2 - Japanese-Language System | ¥49,980 -> ¥59,980
Nintendo Switch OLED | ¥37,980 -> ¥47,980
Nintendo Switch | ¥32,978 -> ¥43,980
Nintendo Switch Lite | ¥21,978 -> ¥29,980
Nintendo noted that the price for the Nintendo Switch 2 Multi-Language System will not see a price increase from its current ¥79,980 price tag. The above revisions will go into effect on May 25, 2026.
Worldwide
Pricing outside of Japan for the Nintendo Switch 2 will also see an increase in a number of territories. These will be put into place on September 1, 2026. Regions not listed will provide updates via their overseas subsidiaries. Below are the highlighted regions:
United States | $449.99 -> $499.99
Canada | $629.99 -> $679.99
Europe | €469.99 -> €499.99
Nintendo Switch Online
According to Nintendo in regard to their online services, “pricing will be revised to support appropriate alignment among regions.” Here are the price increases for Japan:
Individual Membership
1 Month | ¥306 -> ¥400
3 Months | ¥815 -> ¥1,000
12 Months | ¥2,400 -> ¥3,000
Family Membership
12 Months | ¥4,500 -> ¥5,800
NSO + Expansion Pak
Individual (12 Months) | ¥4,900 -> ¥5,900
Family (12 Months) | ¥8,900 -> ¥9,900
These will go into place on July 1, 2026.
Playing Cards, Hanafuda, Etc.
Videos games aren’t the only items seeing increases. Nintendo’s playing cards will go from set suggested pricing to an “Open Price.” This will go into effect on May 25, 2026.
