The Virtual Boy is poised to make its return through Nintendo Switch Online and the Virtual Boy app on both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. While the app itself isn’t available just yet, I did manage to get my hands on both the Virtual Boy replica unit and the cardboard version as well. Using one of these (or a Labo VR headset if you have one of those) are the only ways that you’ll be able to officially check out the Virtual Boy games on the systems. Not only this, but the replica unit would be quite a bit of a more comfortable way to check out the stereoscopic 3D support for both Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It’s been fantastic to see all of the special accessories Nintendo has released for fans over the years with their retro controllers for NSO subscribers, and this one is absolutely ridiculous - in a charming way. I’m looking forward to trying out the initial launch library and beyond.
