None other than Shigeru Miyamoto announced that a sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie is currently in the works with Nintendo and the team at Illumination that brought the original movie to life in 2023. While details are currently scarce, the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri, confirmed that the next film will release on April 3, 2026 in the US and many other markets. He went on to say that currently the two companies are “thinking about broadening Mario's world further, and it'll have a bright and fun story.
