In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Power Pro Baseball series and the 20th anniversary of Pro Baseball Spirits, Konami has announced that none other than Shohei Ohtani will be the new brand ambassador for both series. To celebrate, the Japanese superstar will be playing an active role at promoting the currently available titles on mobile including Pro Yakyū Spirits A, Jikkyō Powerful Pro Yakyū and Powerful Pro Yakyū Eikan Nine Crossroad. Details are sparse, but Konami asks fans to “stay tuned” for further announcements in the future. You can see a special interview with Ohtani (Japanese only) in the video below.
In 2023, Power Pros made a big splash with the release of the budget title WBSC eBaseball: Power Pros on the Nintendo Switch and PS4 worldwide, complete with English support. Additionally, per the two year release schedule (the last game hit in 2022), the next Japanese Power Pro title utilizing the Nippon Professional Baseball license will likely see a release this year.
