Suika Game just can’t keep off of the top of lists this year. The simplistic puzzler was the most searched for game in Japan in 2023 on Google, followed by other big name titles, such as Hogwarts Legacy and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Although it is available across the globe, Suika Game had humble beginnings. Starting out as a proprietary game for publisher Aladdin X’s series of of projectors in 2021, the game found a home on the Switch in December of the same year. This year, the game reached an unprecedented level of popularity due to a variety of VTubers, streamers and celebrities in Japan playing and reacting to the game online.
