Nintendo’s first foray into films with Illumination is really paying off - both figuratively and literally. Just wrapping up its third weekend at the box office, the Super Mario Bros. Movie has raked in $871.8 million in revenue worldwide. In the US, the movie pulled in $58.2 million putting it at $434.3 million domestically.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie has yet to release in Japan. The movie is scheduled to release this Friday, April 28, just in time for the start of the Golden Week string of holidays.
